8-MCDO Delivery: The almost "horrible" experience

I had no classes today and no people are at home to cook me meals. I decided to order a single meal from McDonald's today and I ordered in at 5:20 pm using their online delivery service.

Three hours later, I am munching on a chicken nugget (which I purchased myself) and writing this blog entry.

McDonald's is huge here in the Philippines. A lot of people come in and out of their doors and call in for a delivery service (which claims to be a 24/7 service, if I may add). Thing is, being as big as they are here in the Philippines, it probably wouldn't matter to them what kind of service they give to their customers. Being the kind of person that I am, I always want to claim what I deserve as a customer so I decided to write them a letter on their customer care site. I just hope somebody takes the time to read it.

Here's what I wrote:
To whom it may concern:

Today, 20 October 2011 at 5:20 pm, I ordered in using your online delivery service. To my dismay, three hours later, and I'm writing you a letter of complaint. I have not received my order, and you did a great job of dissatisfying a customer. Imagine doing this to one customer a day. That's already 365 customers a year. I acknowledge that you are a huge company here in the Philippines. After all, what is a P192 pesos to you when you probably earn hundreds of thousands in a day? What you don't realize is how much people care actually care about customer satisfaction. If you people rather have customers calling in for a delivery, then I suggest you take down your website. I look forward to hearing from you, even if it's just an acknowledgement of some sort.

Anyways, this was the message after I clicked send:

My feedback better be important to you motherfuckers and do better at your job. Also, you're welcome because I really needed to take the time to notify you concerning your bullshit service.

Well for some reason my internet connection fucked up the resolution of this photo huh? Anyway this photo is an epitome of most of my favorite things: being with my family, eating, and traveling! :-)

Review: KKK Food Revolution

Last Sunday, my papa and I went to SM Fairview (for the first time ever in my life!), just to check out what stores they have. Up until that day, I thought that was the worst SM shopping center, but SM North Edsa still holds that prize. Anyway, we ended up buying more than we needed and we spent more than what we were supposed to.

We had dinner in KKK Food Revolution- papa said he was friends with the owner and so he has already tried their cuisines. I was up for anything that night, so Filipino food it is.

We ordered their Inihaw na Liempo Bacon Cut (P230.00)- a house specialty!, Laing sa Gata (P125.00) and Garlic Pusit (P235.00). I even wanted to order their Sinangag sa Tinapa at Itlog na Maalat! But papa decided against it because of the laing. I feel stupid for not taking pictures of what we ordered, but you take a look at their menu here

Anyhow, their dishes are sensational!!! The Garlic Pusit was over-the-top sex in your mouth, I swear. My only problem was with the Laing sa Gata, which wasn't spicy enough for me. You guys should definitely try dining in this restaurant. Their prices may be a little bit expensive, but it's definitely worth every penny- not only is the ambiance good (the walls are plastered with makabayan photos / posters, the servers are very friendly and customer-oriented.

They have branches in the following shopping centers: SM Fairview, SM Mall of Asia, SM Cubao, The Annex (SM North Edsa), West Avenue, Robinson's Place Manila

Of strawberries, chocolates and films

My cousins spent the weekend in Baguio they brought home strawberries for everyone!

I decided to melt five Hershey's milk chocolate mini bars but my plan sort of backfired. Some actually melted just right, but most of it just burned and it tasted like crunchy brownies but it was still sort of good.

Just when I said I wanted to see more films that are patterned closer to reality, I watch Buried.

Buried is a film starring Ryan Reynolds as Paul Conroy, an American citizen who works for CRI as a truck driver in Iraq. During one of his trips, he and his fellow truck drivers were ambushed. He blacked out, and the film starts out when he wakes up in a wooden coffin buried underground. He only has a Zippo lighter, a flashlight, a liquor flask, a couple of glow sticks, an empty wallet and a mobile phone which the terrorists left for contact. These terrorists are asking for five million dollars by nine in the evening or he dies. Paul starts contacting all sorts of agencies to ask for help from: 911 (which doesn't work for countries outside America, I suppose), CRI and the FBI. Nobody seems to be much of help until he figures how to work the phone and finds out the number of the mobile phone.

The first half of the film was pretty boring, and that's why I started cleaning my toenails, hahaha! It starts to get interesting when a snake gets into the coffin, and he set a fire to burn it. After that, he starts to get all emotional and calls his mom and his dad while the soil / sand starts to put much pressure into the coffin and starts seeping through the little holes. The movie ends in such a way that the audience thinks it's going to be a predictable happy ending -- an officer calls him saying they've already located him and they're on their way. His wife then calls, and Paul tells her that everything will be alright and that he's coming home to her only to find out that the team on the search located the wrong coffin. The earth fills up the coffin and the screen blacks out. Perfect.
The good:
I find it really great that the film features Reynolds as the only character. Reynolds has done a pretty good job, actually.
Aforementioned, the film is patterned close to reality. In fact, it felt very real. Terrorists really do this in real life -- capture random people and torture them till they get what they want; in this case, it was money that they wanted. And if they don't get what they want, the captive dies. This is what I hate about most governments: they don't really care if one life is taken away. They would probably do what they can but they will never negotiate with terrorists. What they don't understand is that they need to play by the rules and not set them. Like what Conroy said, it's easy for them to say [not negotiate] because they're sitting in an air conditioned room, not buried under the ground.
The so-so:
Mentioned above, I said the first part of the film was pretty boring. It was very idle and it didn't hold my attention. But I guess that's forgivable, considering how the ending turned out to be.

The bad:
The mobile phone: why does the battery run out too quickly? I suppose it was a Blackberry (and I kept on wondering why the terrorists would leave such a phone instead of a rotten Nokia or something), and yet the battery started to drain after a few calls. I own an iPhone and it's supposed to have bad battery life but it lasts me a day even though I make and receive calls. Also, how come there was signal even though he was buried underground? The reason, they say, is because he wasn't buried in too deep. But then why did the earth start to collapse the coffin in just a matter of two to three hours when it seemed as though it was made out of thick wood and not ply wood.
The camera had a number of zoom out frames which took out the concept of being buried. It's supposed to be all close up and dark and it's supposed to capture the struggle of Conroy throughout the film. On some instances, it seemed as though the coffin had only three sides instead of four and that was a big minus. And don't try to tell me that it's because it's a movie and not real life because these kinds of films are supposed to be a reflection of reality, not a metaphor of it.

Overall, the film was a good watch. Three and a half stars.

Sunday morning, rain is falling

Yesterday was a cold Sunday perfect for family bonding :-)

We had lunch in Manong's, eating only Filipino cuisine -- chicharong bulaklak, crispy tadyang, laing and crispy pla-pla. Then, we ate frozen yoghurt in Frutti Froyo, such a nice, modern yoghurt place.

Mom and dad shared a cup of pistachio flavored froyo with walnuts and pecan nuts.

My brother isn't big on toppings so he settled for vanilla flavored froyo with Hershey's chocolate syrup.

I had the vanilla-taro swirl flavored froyo with my all-time favorite toppings, strawberries and mangoes!!! :-)

I was supposed to have my hair cut in South Salon or Salon de Manila but both were closed :-( I decided to have my hair cut in Piandre instead. I didn't know any hair stylist there so I had to choose between the creative stylist or the artistic stylist. Their difference? Only they would know. I'd post a picture of my new 'do but it's 3:38 in the morning and I look like crap so maybe tomorrow? Anyhow, I'm going home north tomorrow so no internet again for I don't know how long. I hope Globe comes over soon to replace my PLDT DSL with their broadband.

Kajitsu!

Lorenze and I & Raffy and Grai were up until 6:30 this morning, just talking about the most random things. So while the boys drove home, us girls went to sleep. Of course we woke up later than expected! We got up at around 1:00 in the afternoon when we said we'd be out of the condo at 9 or 10 in the morning. Anyway, we showered, got dressed and put our make-up on, went to the Admissions Office of CSB and had late lunch / merienda in Yutaka Izakaya. I just gotta say that I've been dying to eat at that restaurant since it opened because I'm a very big fan of Japanese cuisine. Since it's finals week in Benilde, and LaSalle hasn't resumed classes yet, there were not much people dining in the place. I ordered Nigiri Sushi and Salmon Sashimi and it was nothing short of amazing. The food weren't overpriced as well. The sushi servings were generous and fresh, and they used authentic Japanese rice! I love that place already.. I'm definitely going back :-)

Late night double date

I was finally able to get some internet access! I love our place here in Taft that we like to call gilid -- there's a wide variety of food choices, an open area so we could smoke and WiFi from Jollibee that's just across the street! Anyway, Grai and I are sitting side by side right now, with our Macs open, only talking in bits and pieces cause we're both busy, hahaha!

Anyhow, I was with Lorenze last night before meeting up with Grai and Raffy cause we were all supposed to go to Taft together. We ate dinner in SM Southmall's food court, and can I just say the place looks way different from what I remember. We went to Grai's place afterwards to wait for Raffy to pick us up. After he did, we decided to go to Army Navy in Alabang to stop by for some burgers and quesadilla. The food was great, but our talks were better :-) We talked about everything from high school shenanigans to growing up and moving on. Anyway, here are some pictures from last night :-)

A review on: Ienne's Cupcakes

I first tasted Ienne's cupcakes when my mom brought home four pieces from Alabang Town Center. I'm not much of a sweet tooth -- I rarely eat cakes and cupcakes cause I don't like icings -- well, except for choco-caramel and chocolate truffle cakes. So when I do eat sweets, they probably taste really good and they're probably too irresistible to eat!

Anyway, Ienne's cupcakes are definitely an exception to the rule! It's not too sweet, the cake isn't porous and the cream vanilla icing is the best in the world! They starting price was only Php55 but I think they've raised it to Php80 per piece because of the sales. Considering it's packaging and taste, I'd say it's certainly worth it! :-)
