Movie Review: A Serbian Film

My best friend told me about how watching this film made her sick to her stomach.
I am particular with the movies I watch and I do prefer mind-boggling themes. Of course, I was intrigued with this one. My torrent download finished months ago and I had to actually gather up the courage to watch it. I've watched it days ago and I actually had to gather up the courage to write about it. I think the storyline has finally sunk in, and I think it needed deep thought and contemplation to be able to understand it.

A Serbian Film starts with Milos (Srdjan Todorovic) fucking a girl hardcore, zooming out only to find out that his son, Petar (real name unlisted), is watching one of his dad's old porn films. Milos casually turns off the tape and pours a Jack Daniels for himself. Oh you think that's messing with your family values?

Milos is then presented with a big opportunity by his old workmate, Lejla (Katarina Zutic), to perform once more on a porn project that will pay him big bucks, enough to sustain the children of his child. The catch: Milos is not allowed to know the story of which the porn film is revolved around with. According to the director, Vukmir (Sergej Trifunovic), it is so, so that Milos will act 'naturally' on-cam.

The porn film turns out to be all about necrophilia and pedophilia- as Vukmir describes, it is 'new born porn'. And that's exactly how it's going to be. On one tape that Vukmir shows Milos, a woman is giving birth to a child with the help of a man who is later going to fuck this newly born child. And no, I am not kidding and you read right.

Towards the end of the film, when you think that's the worst that could happen, Milos wakes up bloody and wounded on his bed. He realizes days have gone by and his wife and son are nowhere to be found. He goes to Vukmir's office and starts searching for the individual video cam tapes. As he is watching them, stories begin to unfold; flashbacks begin to unravel. How he fucked and killed- what a monster he had become.

The best (yes, that was sarcastic) part of the film was the final scene where he brings himself to a room where two people lay on their stomachs, heads covered. He starts fucking one.. and then he fucks the other. His brother, Marko (Slobodan Bestic), whose head is also covered, comes out of nowhere and starts fucking the one he just finished fucking. So basically, Milos and Marko are fucking side by side. Vukmir starts to remove the masks one by one.

Take a deep breath.
Take one more.
Take another.

Marko is identified.
The one Marko is fucking is actually Milos' wife.
The one Milos is fucking is actually his son.

Mindfuckingblown.

They go back to their house, everyone is in a state of shock. Milos brings out his gun, they lay side by side, and a single bullet goes through the three of them.

The end.


My thoughts:
Before the movie: This might be good.
During the movie: What the fuck? Are you serious? Are you kidding me? Am I out of my mind?
After the movie: I feel fucked.

This film is beyond sick and disgusting. I would even go as far as inhumane. How could anyone think of things like these? Never in my lifetime have I formed in my mind that someone would / could actually fuck a new born. Things I never knew existed- I actually visualized with my own two eyes. This film is very disturbing and some parts of it has never really left my mind. I am actually afraid of dreaming about it.

This film is nothing but pure bullshit. I have nothing more to say.

But by all means, proceed to watch at your own risk.
